How it works

Three steps, about a minute

  1. Describe your app

Name, a one-line pitch and who it's for.

  2. List the features

Up to six, in plain words, plus a closing line.

  3. Edit and copy

Pick a tone, then make the draft your own.

About your app

What the app does, in one sentence.

Main features

For example, an invitation to try it or where to get help.

Short description

Fill in the pitch to get the line that shows above the fold.

Description

Your draft shows up here as you fill in the form.

What you get

  • A proven shape

A hook, feature bullets, who it's for and a closing line: easy to scan on a phone.

  • Three tones

Plain, friendly or professional, to match how your app talks.

  • The short text too

A Google Play short description or App Store promotional text comes with it.

The guide

What goes into the draft

  1. A hook built from your app's name and pitch, so the first lines already explain the app.
  2. Feature bullets, one per feature, written as short sentences.
  3. Who it's for, so the right people recognize themselves.
  4. A closing line inviting people to try it.

What to leave out

Don't ask for ratings or a number of stars in your description, and don't promise rewards for reviews: both stores forbid it. Leave out prices, "#1" claims and long keyword lists too. Plain descriptions of what the app does work better with people and with store reviewers.

Questions

Short answers about the app description template and the store rules behind it.

How should an app description be structured?

Open with one or two lines that say what the app does and for whom, since most people never tap "more". Follow with a short list of the main features, a line about who it's for, and a closing line. Short paragraphs and bullets read better on a phone than one long block.

Does the description affect search ranking?

On Google Play, yes: the full and short descriptions are indexed, so use your main keywords naturally a few times. On the App Store the description isn't indexed for search, but it still decides whether people install.

Can I use the generated text as it is?

Treat it as a first draft. The template gives you the structure; details only you know, like what makes your app different, are what convince people. Edit the draft right on the page before you copy it.
