Review guidelines

Honest feedback is what makes this place useful. These rules protect reviewers and developers alike, and they never bend.

Last updated October 2026

What makes a helpful review?

A helpful review tells the developer exactly what to keep and what to fix. Every review form asks three things:

  • What worked well. The moments you enjoyed or found useful.
  • What could be better. Where you got stuck, confused or bored.
  • Bugs found. What you did, what you expected and what happened, plus your device.

Be specific and kind. “The jump on level 3 needs a pixel-perfect tap” helps; “bad game” doesn't.

The rules

  • Review only what you used. Try the app or game before reviewing it.
  • One review per app. Developers can't review their own apps or vote on reviews of them.
  • No rate-for-rate. Never offer or ask for ratings in exchange, here or on the stores.
  • Upvote what you like, never in exchange. One upvote per app. Trading upvotes (“upvote for upvote”) isn't allowed, and developers can't upvote their own apps.
  • Store ratings are optional. Nobody may require, reward or check them. We never track whether you left one.
  • No fake, paid or copied reviews, and no reviews from multiple accounts.
  • No harassment, hate speech, spam or personal information.

For developers

  • Reply to reviews, thank people and say what you'll change. Mark the most useful ones; reviewers earn reputation for it.
  • You can never ask for a specific star rating or for store ratings in return for anything.
  • Only list apps you own or are authorized to list.

What happens when someone breaks the rules

Use the report button on any app or review. Reviews that look like rating exchanges are held for a moderator automatically. Moderators can hide content, remove reputation earned from it and suspend accounts. Every action is logged.

Frequently asked questions

Can I ask people to rate my app on Google Play or the App Store?

Not in exchange for anything. Store ratings are always the reviewer's free choice. Google and Apple ban rewarded and swapped ratings, and developers caught doing it can lose their apps.

Is rate-for-rate allowed?

No. Offering or asking for a rating in exchange for another rating isn't allowed anywhere on the platform or in our community groups.

Will a developer delete my critical review?

No. Reviews are only removed when they break these rules (spam, abuse, fake or exchanged reviews), never because a developer disagrees.
