How the App Store keyword field works
The keyword field is a hidden, comma-separated list of up to 100 bytes in App Store Connect. Apple combines it with your app name and subtitle to decide which searches you can appear in. It builds phrases from single words on its own, so "photo, editor" can match "photo editor" without spelling out the phrase.
What the optimizer changes
- Splits your list into single words and joins them with bare commas.
- Removes exact repeats and plural twins ("game" and "games").
- Removes words already in your app name or subtitle.
- Removes filler words such as "app", "free", "the" and "iphone".
Your order is kept, so the keywords you listed first stay first. Fill the bytes it frees with new words you'd like to be found for.
