How it works

Each line you type becomes one change. The generator groups them under New, Improved and Fixed, or writes them as a short paragraph. List markers you paste in, like dashes or numbers, are removed. When the notes are too long for Google Play, it keeps the new features and drops later items, adding a line that says how many more changes there are.

Tips for better notes

  • Lead with the change most people will care about.
  • Write for users, not for your team: skip ticket numbers and library names.
  • Keep the same structure every release so regular users can scan it.

How long can release notes be?

The App Store's "What's New" field takes up to 4,000 characters. Google Play release notes take up to 500 characters per language, so long change lists need a shorter version there.

What should release notes include?

The changes people will notice: new features first, then improvements, then fixes. Describe each one by what it means for the user ("Reminders now arrive on time") rather than internal details.

Is "Bug fixes and performance improvements" enough?

It's allowed, but it tells people nothing. Specific notes show the app is maintained, help people decide to update, and give returning users a reason to open the app again.
