How it works

Three steps, about a minute

  1. Answer a few questions

Who you are, how to reach you, where you're based.

  2. Pick data and SDKs

What the app collects and which services it uses.

  3. Download and review

Markdown or plain text, to check with a professional.

A starting point, not legal advice

This draft covers common cases only. Check that it matches what your app and every SDK really do, and have it reviewed by a qualified professional before you publish it.

Your draft policy

# Privacy Policy for the app

Effective date:

This policy explains what information the app ("the app") collects, how it is used and the choices you have. The app is provided by the developer ("we", "us").

## Information we collect

We do not collect personal information through the app. Anything you create in the app stays on your device unless you choose to share it.

## How we use information

Because we don't collect personal information, we don't use it for any purpose.

## Sharing

We share information only with the service providers listed above that help us run the app, when the law requires it, or to protect our rights and the safety of our users.

## Data retention and deletion

We keep personal information only as long as we need it to provide the app. To ask us to delete any data we hold about you, email [your contact email].

## Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, and to object to some uses of it. To make a request, contact us at the address below.

## Children

the app is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

## Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of storing or sending data is completely secure.

## Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We'll change the effective date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.

The guide

What the draft covers

  • What information the app collects, and why.
  • The third-party SDKs you ticked, with links to their own policies.
  • Advertising, when you use an ad SDK.
  • Data retention, account deletion and users' rights.
  • Children's privacy, security, changes to the policy and how to contact you.

Keep it consistent with your store forms

Google Play's Data safety form and the App Store's privacy details ask the same questions in structured form. Make sure your answers there, this policy and what the app actually does all match. Reviewers compare them, and differences are a common reason for rejection.

Questions

Short answers about the privacy policy generator and the store rules behind it.

Does my app need a privacy policy?

Yes, in practice. Google Play requires a privacy policy link for every app, and the App Store requires one for every app too. You also need one under laws like the GDPR whenever the app handles personal data.

Is a generated privacy policy enough?

It's a starting point. A template can't know everything your app and its SDKs do, or which laws apply where your users live. Check every statement against how the app really works, and have a qualified professional review it.

Where do I publish the policy?

On a public web page you control that doesn't need a sign-in, such as your website. Link to it from the Play Console, App Store Connect and inside the app, usually in Settings or About.

Is my information sent anywhere?

No. The policy is written in your browser from your answers, and nothing you type is uploaded.
