How it works

Three steps, about a minute

  1. Paste a competitor's link

A Google Play or App Store listing.

  2. We read its listing

Likely keywords come from its name and description.

  3. See where it ranks

Each phrase is searched live; the best positions come first.

What you get

  • Keywords from the listing

Phrases the app's own name, subtitle and description lean on.

  • Checked live

Every phrase is searched in the store and country you pick.

  • Ideas for your own app

Phrases where a rival ranks well are worth testing in your listing.

The guide

What the finder checks

Up to a dozen phrases from the competitor's name and description, each searched in the store and country you choose. The best positions come first, so you can see at a glance which searches bring that app its users.

  • Top 3 and top 10 positions are the searches that matter most.
  • Phrases where it doesn't rank show what it targets but hasn't won yet.

Turning a rival's keywords into your own

  1. Pick the phrases that also describe your app.
  2. Check how crowded they are with the keyword difficulty checker.
  3. Find nearby, less crowded phrases with the keyword suggestion tool.
  4. After updating your listing, follow your position with the rank checker.

Questions

Short answers about the competitor keyword finder and the store rules behind it.

How do you find a competitor's keywords?

The stores don't publish them, so we read the app's public name and description, pick the phrases it leans on most, and search each one live to see where the app actually ranks.

Can I see the App Store keyword field of another app?

No. The iOS keyword field is private to the developer. What an app ranks for is public, though, and that's what this tool checks.

How should I use a competitor's keywords?

Look for phrases where a similar app ranks well and that describe your app too. Score them with the keyword difficulty checker, and only use the ones that are honest about what your app does.
